Welcome to the 4-6 Elementary. My goal is to work with all parents and students daily to promote a fun, safe, and learning environment. It is a privilege to be the principal at the 4-6 Elementary and work with an outstanding staff and great families.
I started my educational career in 1990 as a fourth grade teacher for nine years at Elgin-Millville Elementary. Next I was the High School Principal at Elgin-Millville. Currently, I am the 4-6 Elementary and 7-8 Jr. High Principal at Plainview-Elgin-Millville.
I live in Elgin with my wife Shannon. We have four children Candace, Kali, Clay, and Cole which have all graduated from college and have jobs. Candace is a teacher at Lake-City, Kali is an accountant at Smith Schafer in Rochester, Clay is a second grade teacher at Rushford-Peterson, and Cole is a financial consultant at Xcel Energy in Minneapolis. I am also a proud grandparent of eight grandchildren.
One of the biggest challenges facing our students is the exposure to social media. It tends to become a source of anxiety, especially for girls. Parents, I encourage you to constantly check your child’s technology devices. Please look at their cell phone text messages, keep an eye on their Facebook, Snapchat, and any other technology programs they might use. I also encourage you to be a “Helicopter Parent” which means you keep a very close eye on your child and be strict with them. There is nothing more important than family. I guarantee your children will thank you later on in life for being involved.
Quote – “Family is not an important thing, it’s everything.” Michael J. Fox
Quote – “No family is perfect… we argue, we fight. We even stop talking to each other at times, but in the end, family is family…the love will always be there.
The entire staff at the P-E-M 4-6 Elementary will work very hard this year to make it the best possible experience for your child at school. Please contact me by email or phone if you have any concerns throughout the entire school year.
Thanks,
Clark Olstad
