Note: This was a meeting of the Elgin-Millville school board with members of the Plainview school board in attendance. These minutes reflect action taken by the Elgin-Millville board based upon discussion and recommendations of board members from the two districts.

Attendance: Rich Hall, Carol Georgen, Jane Timm (7:07pm), LaVonne Beck(7:05pm), Sheri Sexton, Erika Hippe (7:45pm), Ross Mattke, Eric Bartleson, Marcia Schultz, Rita Young, Tedd Kruger, Sue Tangen, Mikel Wheeler, Carol Cravath, Lynn Zabel, Don Pavelka, Eileen Kronebusch, Bill Ihrke, Lynn Bastian, Darci Fenske and Bonnie VanPutten Absent: Brad Erwin and Clark Olstad.

Meeting was called to order by Chair Hall at 7:00pm, roll call was done.

Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

Moved by Georgen, seconded by Sexton to approve the agenda as presented. Motion passed unanimously.

Public Comment: None

Review of the MDE Consolidation Checklist by Superintendent Bartleson.

Update on joint teacher negotiations was given by Bartleson.

New District Name and Athletic Mascot were discussed. Moved by Sexton, seconded by Timm to approve the new name of the district to be as follows: Plainview-Elgin-Millville Community School Motion passed unanimously.

Moved by Beck, seconded by Georgen to poll grades 6-11 with a common ballot and no school segregation when they are counted in regards to their choice for a school mascot. Motion passed unanimously.

Moved by Georgen, seconded by Sexton to approve the following names for the school buildings next year:
Plainview-Elgin-Millville PK-3 (Plainview)
Plainview-Elgin-Millville 4-6 (Elgin)
Plainview-Elgin-Millville Junior High School (Elgin)
Plainview-Elgin-Millville High School. (Plainview)

Motion passed unanimously.

Principal Reports were given by Mattke, Bastian and Ihrke. They updated the boards on progress made in developing programs and staffing for the 2006-2007 school year. They will continue to work on these issues as well as others and plan to have staffing recommendations by the end of February, 2006.

Joint Committees were discussed. After the first of the year the board will be trying to combine as many committees as possible.

LaVonne Beck reported on the recent meeting of the Pairing Committee. The committee recommended to pair boys and girls golf this spring for the 2005-2006 school year with costs to be shared on a per participant basis. The Elgin-Millville School Board had already approved this and Plainview will be approving this pairing at their special board meeting on December 21, 2005.

Transition Aid Budget was discussed. Superintendent Bartleson talked about the different areas that are being looked at for using the monies appropriately for the new district.

District and Building Administrative Assignments were discussed. Moved by Hippe, seconded by Timm to approve the following administration for the new district: Lynn Bastian, Plainview-Elgin-Millville PK-3 Principal; Ross Mattke, Plainview-Elgin-Millville 4-6 Principal; Clark Olstad, Plainview-Elgin-Millville JrHi Principal and Bill Ihrke, Plainview-Elgin-Millville High School Principal. Yes: Timm, Hall, Hippe, Georgen, Sexton No: Beck Motion passes.
A regular meeting schedule for the joint board was discussed. The next joint meeting will be on January 30th at 7pm in Plainview.

Plans for the upcoming MSBA Leadership Conference were discussed and the boards will meet for dinner at 8pm in the Twin Cities.

Ideas for early dismissals and end of year dismissal was presented by Eileen Kronebusch, Curriculum Director.

Board will be considering a proposal from the rSchools Today Website.

HVAC Update was given by Superintendent Bartleson.

Moved by Timm, seconded by Hippe to adjourn the meeting at 9:04pm.
